Kinnoull Tower

Perth

Kinnoull Tower. While it looks like a medieval castle keep, it is actually a romantic folly. It was built in the late 18th to early 19th century by Lord Grey of Kinfauns or the 9th Earl of Kinnoull. The builder was inspired by the fairytale castles he saw along the Rhine Valley during a tour of Germany and wanted to replicate that dramatic aesthetic on the cliffs overlooking the River Tay.
